Primary 1 to 2
What We Cover
-
Number & Algebra: Understanding place value up to 1 000, addition and subtraction with regrouping, basic multiplication and division (2, 3, 4, 5, 10 times tables), introduction to simple fractions, recognising and continuing number patterns.
-
Measurement & Geometry: Measuring and comparing length, mass, and time; telling time to the nearest 5 minutes; exploring 2D and 3D shapes by their properties.
-
Statistics: Reading and interpreting simple picture graphs.
Our Approach
At this early stage, we focus on developing number sense and confidence. Using the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) approach, students manipulate objects, move to pictorial models, and then solve abstract problems. Fun games, mental strategies (“make 10”, “doubles”, “counting on”) and interactive activities make maths engaging.
Why It Matters
By P2, students who master these basics are well prepared to handle fractions, decimals, and more complex problem sums in upper primary. We also nurture the habit of explaining their reasoning, building communication and confidence in maths.
Proven Results: Our lower primary students often enter P3 already fluent with multiplication tables and strong in problem-solving, giving them a competitive edge.
Primary 3 & 4
What We Cover
-
Number & Algebra: Whole numbers up to 1 million, four operations with larger numbers, introduction to decimals, fractions (equivalent fractions, addition/subtraction of like fractions), factors, multiples, and simple ratio.
-
Measurement & Geometry: Area and perimeter of rectangles, squares, and composite figures; angles and symmetry; nets of 3D solids; volume of cubes and cuboids.
-
Statistics: Bar graphs, line graphs, and tables.
Our Approach
At this level, students face more complex word problems. We teach them structured problem-solving heuristics:
-
Drawing models
-
Working backwards
-
Guess & check
-
Making systematic lists
Students practise both routine questions (to secure accuracy) and non-routine questions (to develop flexibility). Regular timed practices help them build exam stamina.
Why It Matters
These years are a critical bridge: students move from simple calculations to multi-step reasoning. Strong performance in P3–P4 sets the stage for mastery of P5–P6 topics like percentage, ratio, and algebra.
Proven Results:
85% of our P3–P4 students improve by at least one grade within a year, with many moving from borderline passes to solid As.
Primary 5 & PSLE (P6)
What We Cover
-
Number & Algebra: Fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio, rate, average, algebraic expressions, linear equations.
-
Measurement & Geometry: Area of triangles and composite figures, volume and surface area of solids, advanced angle properties.
-
Statistics & Probability: Tables, pie charts, line graphs, simple probability.
-
PSLE-level Word Problems: Complex problem sums involving multiple concepts (e.g. ratio + percentage + speed).
Our Approach
We prepare students for PSLE with a dual strategy:
-
Content Mastery – Full coverage of MOE syllabus with step-by-step teaching for tough topics.
-
Exam Readiness – Mock exams under timed conditions, error analysis workshops, and training in exam techniques like time management and checking strategies.
We also provide targeted drills for tricky areas (ratio, fractions, geometry problem sums) and personalised feedback for each student’s weak spots.
Why It Matters
PSLE Mathematics is designed to stretch students with higher-order, non-routine questions. Our programme equips students not only to solve them but to do so with confidence and accuracy.
Proven Results:
-
70% of our P6 cohort achieve AL1–AL3 in PSLE Maths.
-
Many students jump from mid-range scores (C or B) in P5 to strong As or AL1–3 in PSLE.
-
Parents consistently note improved confidence and resilience in their children during exams.
